About the company
This established production facility based in Wanganui continues to have significant growth and has expanded their footprint within NZ, Australia and worldwide.  Their products are innovative, safe, robust and of the highest quality and they are continually looking to do things better.  Due to internal promotion we are seeking a Production Manager to join their team. 
  
About the role
As a forward‑thinking Production Manager you will have responsibility for the continued supply of their premium products and implementation and leadership of lean principles.  You will manage the entire operations team, inclusive of production, inventory control, safety, quality and installation.  Your consultative personality will be paramount in taking the staff on this journey. 
  
Duties
Through the application of modern manufacturing disciplines and people management skills you will be pivotal in implementing lean principle, while promoting a culture of quality and high standards through your hands on approach. You will also be expected to have very close relationships in terms of pricing, planning and scheduling of a large and diverse group of contract manufactures and a large group of installation contractors. 
  
Skills & Experience
  • A trade, engineering, building or carpentry background
  • Experience gained within a production and assembly-based manufacturing environment
  • Ability to conceptualise new product development
  • Design, costing, planning, installation and after-sales support
  • Staff leadership, KPI management, plant optimization and process improvement
  • Proven experience in the application of lean manufacturing practices
  • Hands on approach, operational insight and analytical ability is required  
  • Experience in MRP/ERP systems, to assist with the roll out of this onto the shop floor
