Who is Sidekicker

Sidekicker is a platform that connects Australian and NZ businesses like Uber, Deliveroo, Royal Melbourne Show and Crown with on-demand staff. For businesses, Sidekicker’s platform is easy to use, cost effective and delivers staff fast. For staff, we offer a flexible way to make money and gain experience. Each staff member on Sidekicker is screened by our team and is able to apply for jobs via Sidekicker’s app.

Based in the Melbourne CBD, Sidekicker also has operations in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and across New Zealand. Due to ongoing growth, we're seeking a frontend-focused Software Engineer to join our engineering team in Melbourne.

Software Engineer

As a member of Sidekicker’s Engineering team, you'll utilise your technical skills to build products that are revolutionising the temp industry. As a team member, you'll ship architecturally-sound code at regular intervals.

You'll get to:

What you bring:

  • Robust experience in the frontend, in particular React.
  • Experience with SCSS or other CSS preprocessors.
  • Familiarity and experience with state management libraries such as redux and build tools such as webpack is desirable but not required.
  • Experience with working in PHP, or willingness to learn (Laravel experience highly regarded).
  • A working knowledge of MySQL.
  • A keen interest in modern technologies such as GraphQL.
  • A sound understanding of web application development.
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A reasoned and pragmatic approach to software development and testing.
  • A love of problem-solving, investigating problems and determining the appropriate fix.
  • Open to working in an agile development environment.
  • A willingness to contribute and help others on the team improve in their craft.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services is desirable but not required.
