The Role:

Our client an Australian fintech business based in Melbourne have a new opportunity for a Technical Product manager to join their team. The Technical Product Manager will be responsible for leading end-to-end project tasks in a designated product suite, including: supporting business partners drive product roadmaps; business analysis (specs and ticket writing); project management; functional testing; and, maintenance of knowledge repositories. This role is a senior technical role in the Melbourne office and will report directly to the Chief Information Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Be accountable to executive sponsors for schedule, budget, and quality of assigned projects.
• Leads high-level sessions for combined project plans and schedule development.
• Acts as the communications conduit to all project sponsors and project steering committees.
• Responsible for ensuring project initiatives are kept up to date with strategic direction.
• Ensures that sufficient resources are available to meet each project’s deliverables.
• Drives multiple releases/projects.
• Owns reporting of project status through to the Group Projects Manager (PMO) and other stakeholders.
• Responsible for risk assessment and mitigation.
• Act as a role model for professionalism, critical thinking and setting productivity pace.
• Work with PMO to prepare steering committee packs.
• Establish and manage financials for their projects to ensure reporting needs are satisfied.
• Develop Business Requirements (Epics and User Stories)
• Develop Test Plans in coordination with the Test Manager
• Train the business in defining and articulating requirements, and execution of test plans.
• Triage BAU and fail & fix items for the business units and systems that you support.

Key Skills:


7+ years’ experience in web application/software development project management
3 years of relevant industry work experience (financial services/Fintech)
Strong understanding of the digital product management and supporting product owners to develop and nurture product roadmaps
Familiar with program and project governance structures, procedures, and reporting
Strong working knowledge of project management software (esp Team Gannt and Jira)
Experience with Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, GIT)
Proven experience working on back office tools and business process improvement projects
Experience coordinating cross-functional, scrum-like project teams
Familiarity with change control, risk mitigation, and issues management procedures and escalations
Strong communication skills including the ability to present to senior stakeholders
Strong stakeholder and client management skills
Experience in scoping projects, and supporting the development of business cases
An entrepreneurial mindset and a love of getting your hands dirty
Energetic ‘can do’ attitude.
