The Company
: Our client is a leading financial institution headquartered in the heart of Sydney. One of Australia's Big Four, they offer a range of retail, private and institutional banking services, underpinned by best in class technology solutions.

The Area: You will be joining the front office pre-trade risk technology area of the institutional banking business. Recently the area has embarked on a large scale digital transformation project, utilizing both off the shelf third party packages as well as bespoke proprietary solutions.

The Role and Responsibilities: Joining this front office technology team, you will be the stand alone PMO, for a range of concurrent technical projects. You will work closely with the delivery team and will gain exposure to senior stakeholders, including traders, risk managers, quantitative analysts, compliance staff and senior technology managers. You will directly report into the Delivery manager and ensure the program meets the requirements of the business, while also adhering to budget and time constraints.

You will:
  • Assist in defining project scope for small projects and assist a Project Manager for larger scale projects.
  • Support key project management practices such as resource allocation, cost control, risk and issue management.
  • Schedule activities or assist the Project Manager on larger scale projects.
  • Support forecasting for project costs, use PAG and BRG guidelines.
  • Maintain productive partnerships, collect supplier performance data and deal with underperformance from suppliers on small scale projects.

Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a PMO in investment bank or capital markets business.
  • Understanding/ exposure to front office trading environment.
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting/ compliance/ risk reporting and calculation.
  • Exposure and basic understanding of the concepts/ methodologies associated with project management.
  • Certified Practicing Project Practitioner and/or Certified associated in Project Management accreditation desirable.
  • Highly Organised.
  • Able to constructively communicate with senior stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Junior PMO, perhaps working in a PMO function currently to step outside into a stand alone PMO role and gain valuable end to end project management experience and potentially move into a fully fledged Project Manager role within the team.
