Veterinary Receptionist - Full-time - Southpaws Specialty Referral Hospital


Southpaws Specialty Referral Hospital is looking for a Full-time Receptionist to join our team!

We are growing our reception team and we have an exciting opportunity for you. We are looking for a highly motivated person with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to fill this role.
About you:
You are highly motivated with a strong work ethic, compassionate, caring & have a great sense of humour. You are well organised, can work in a team environment, or autonomously. As the front of house for a busy referral hospital, customer service is of the utmost importance and is a priority for you. Knowledge of the veterinary industry is preferred but not essential if you are the right candidate.
Essential attributes:
  • Minimum of 3 years of reception experience
  • A professional and positive demeanour
  • Ability to work efficiently with initiative in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional organisational and communication skills
  • Compatible with our Core Values including being a team player
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to an ever-growing hospital
  • Knowledge of ezyVet is preferred but not essential
About the role:

Duties include, but are not limited to
  • Maintaining a clean and presentable front of house
  • Managing multiple incoming phone lines and prioritising calls
  • Directing phone calls and relaying phone messages
  • Managing incoming faxes/emails/other correspondence
  • Booking appointments/adding clients in ezyVet
  • Request and attach patient histories to clients
  • Greet, assist and/or direct clients, visitors or veterinary students
  • Finalising invoices/taking payments
  • Banking/petty cash management/Balancing the till
  • Complete a large variety of general administration tasks
  • Assisting clients with GEM Visa/Vetpay applications
  • Communicate patient emergencies to Southpaws medical staff
  • Regular communications with vets and nurses
  • Regular communication with referring vets
  • Assist grieving clients/show empathy and compassion
  • Maintain an inventory of office supplies
  • Receive mail/deliveries
  • Assist with set up of veterinary lectures and Southpaws events
  • Some weekend work required
