12 Month Contract – Starting January 2021
  
The Role
  • When on take as the admitting team, attend the ED when requested to assess relevant patients in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the admission of patients as the unaccredited trainee and the formulation and documentation of provisional diagnosis and treatment plan in consultation with admitting specialists. Provide oversight to junior staff to assist them in undertaking their work.
  • Participate in the ongoing clinical care of the patient through consultant support and advice, multidisciplinary patient review meetings and peer review when required and review patients who have been referred to your unit prior to the consultant review.
  • Preparation of morbidity and mortality reports including reviews of patient clinical care when required and participate in the in person daily handover round with the night medical officer from ED in the ward in the am.
The Hospital
  
The regional Hospital opened in early 2016, they offer emergency department bays, medical and surgical inpatient beds, a maternity unit, paediatric unit, a critical care unit, operating theatres including day surgery, renal dialysis chairs, oncology area, Hospital in the Home and separate mental health unit. A sub-acute rehabilitation unit has also recently opened.
  
Essential Criteria
  
MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
