SENIOR IT SECURITY CONSULTANT - Penetration Testing

My client is a fully independent, non-affiliated company providing IT security services principally for government, financial services, utilities, transport, and corporate clients.

They provide services at both the technical and executive level, in the following areas:

• Penetration Testing (Network and Application)
• Design & Architecture reviews
• Source Code reviews
• Vulnerability Scanning and Identification
• Configuration Reviews
• Wireless Reviews
• Database Security (including forensic investigations into suspected data tampering or theft)
• Telephony System Security (VOIP, PBX and war dialing)
• Social Engineering (people hacking)


Purpose of the Position:

The purpose of this position (Senior IT Security Consultant) is to assist their Security team in providing services to clients, working to your strength areas in the above list and developing skills in other areas as the opportunities arise.


Ideal Person Specification:

This person would have the following Experience, Skills and Attributes:

Experience working as an IT Security Specialist (minimum 3 years) 
Established credibility in the IT security sector by demonstrated successful project work, client report production, diverse and reputable IT security testing skills and active participation in the IT security community (presentations, white papers etc)


Knowledge:

Demonstrated knowledge of a range of testing tools across commonly used corporate, banking, power or
transport industry IT platforms
Demonstrable national or international recognition as an expert in at least one of the IT Security service delivery areas listed above

• A high degree of professionalism in interacting with clients at the senior executive as well as the technical level, including a presentable and audience appropriate personal dress code and appearance
• Highly developed communication skills, including presentation skills to executive or technical audiences, and the ability to write clear, concise, logical and useful reports at both the technical and executive level
• The ability to keep absolute confidentiality on all client matters
• Complete honesty and integrity
• A strong work ethic
• Ability to work well as part of a team and be able to work independently with minimal guidance


Special Job Requirements

• Compulsory! - New Zealand citizenship; and currently hold (or have the ability to obtain and maintain) a government security clearance. Note: This will include a full Police, Government and Criminal Records (Clean Slate) check
• The ability to travel within New Zealand and potentially internationally on work assignments, including being away from home for up to a week or more
