About the role
This is a newly-created role, reporting to the Commercial Manager and working closely with senior business leaders to embed innovative digital solutions. You will work on high-impact projects that transform current processes and promote data-driven decision making across all of PJL. You must exhibit strong initiative, excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to work autonomously.
Candidates currently studying their final year of university may be considered on a part-time remote basis until the completion of their degree.
What you’ll be doing
You can expect your normal day to include some of the following things:
  • Interacting with all levels of PJL from the CEO down, to understand existing processes and explore areas for improvement
  • Producing interactive dashboards with Tableau using data from the ERP system and other sources
  • Building repeatable Alteryx workflows to eliminate manual handling of data
  • Researching and implementing new solutions to solve business problems in areas such as inventory management and operational efficiency
  • Delivering training across the business to equip employees with digital and data skills
  • Travel to PJL sites including Parkes, Cobar, Perth and Kalgoorlie may be required occasionally     
About you
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
  • A tertiary qualification in (or currently studying) an Economics, Commerce, Engineering, Data Science and/or Computer Science degree
  • A strong understanding of digital and data trends, and a passion for using new technology to solve business problems
  • Strong analytical skills - the ability to identify trends, patterns and provide insights from data
  • Excellent communication skills, and an ability to tell stories with data
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and solve problems
  • An ability to engage with and influence stakeholders across the business
  • Prior experience with Alteryx and Tableau (a big advantage but not essential)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Excel
