The DON brand is Australia’s most loved smallgoods brand and creates a range of bacon, ham, continentals, franks and salami in our Castlemaine facility.
Our site is a state-of-the-art facility and is the largest manufacturer in regional Victoria with approximately 1,300 team members. 

About the Job
We produce a large range of meat-based products and rely on our dedicated workforce to create these much-loved products. We are currently seeking an experienced Production Manager in our Bacon Team.   In this role, you will manage a team to ensure the highest standard of Food and Employee safety and produce products of a consistent quality which will delight our customers every day.

Responsibilities include:
  • Have a strong commitment to safety - actively strive to eliminate any serious injuries or environmental incidents.
  • Drive lean and continuous improvement projects across manufacturing.
  • Lead the team to deliver on budgets, Improvement projects and minimise operational costs, while focusing on quality and the customer experience.
  • Provide strong leadership and direction to the operations team to ensure a consistently high level of service.
  • Responsible for the operational targets including monthly performance updates against budget and recommendations for improvements.
  • Overseeing compliance and operational performance including milestone updates on quality, volume output, downtime, DIFOT and maintenance.
  • Contribute to and support marketing product and innovation strategies.
  • Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the company’s strategic initiatives are achieved
  • Manage spending against budget, controlling spending in relation to changes in production volume
  • Monitoring product standards and implementing quality-control program
About You
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar high volume production role preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in reviewing, refining or overhauling processes to ensure manufacturing plants are efficient and productive.
  • Proven track record of professional development of team members with the ability to lead and engage others in driving a high-performance culture.
  • Sound financial management skills with previous experience in successfully planning and managing budgets.
  • Strong & effective communication skills to lead and inspire the operations team.
  • Ability to work under pressure while motivating others and meet tight deadlines;
  • Ability to review processes and develop strategies to improve efficiencies.
