Support Workers – Brisbane North
  
For 60 years Centacare Brisbane has been the social services arm of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Brisbane. With over 1700 employees working from 200 sites across South East Queensland, our employees are the heart of our organisation.
  
Support Workers play a significant and important role in working with our clients to achieve their goals and live their very best lives. Clients and Support Workers often build strong relationships based on respect and mutual understanding. .
  
We are expanding service delivery in the inner Brisbane North Suburbs and are seeking to recruit experienced Support Workers to work in our innovative concierge model of supported independent living. This service delivers as required support to up to 10 tenants living in the same complex.
  
Multiple permanent part time positions are available.
  
Successful Support Workers:
  • Promote independent living skills and choices
  • Participate in the development of Person Centred Planning
  • Promote positive attitudes within the community
  • Assist with personal care, domestic duties, medication, meal preparation and household management.
  • Undertake manual handling and hoisting of tenants
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to competently complete documentation of day to day service delivery including incident reporting in accordance with organisational procedures.
  • Demonstrated computer skills and use of technology. This includes Microsoft Office Suite, ability to  use tenant databases and ability to use Apps on various devices including phones, tablets, Ipads)
  • Ability to problem solve and prioritise tenant supports
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to apply them to achieve a positive tenant experience.
  
  
Please note this role involves a combination of day/night awake shifts
  
The ideal candidate has:
  • A passion for providing quality care
  • Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent
  • Minimum 12 Months experience working in Community Services
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex support needs
  • Great availability! The more available you are the more shifts we can potentially offer you
  • The physical capability to carry out all tasks
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent time management and problem solving skills
  • A current "C" class Drivers Licence
  • A roadworthy and registered vehicle
  • Excellent IT skills and ability to learn new applications
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certificate
  • A National Criminal History (Police) check or willingness to obtain
  • A Working with Children 'Blue' card with a 'Yellow' card Exemption or willingness to obtain
  • Evidence of eligibility and right to work in Australia
  • Certificate of completion of the “NDIS Worker Orientation Module” –
All workers of registered NDIS providers must complete the module'- https://training.ndiscommission.gov.au/  to assist the people working in the sector to support people with disability.

Remuneration
You will be paid in accordance with our Collective Agreement with the base salary commencing at $24.97 per hour.
