Centacare Family and Relationship Services (CFRS) is a non-profit community organisation that supports the strengthening of family and community relationships, particularly where there is vulnerability and disadvantage. The Role:
Centacare Family & Relationship Services (CFRS) is seeking to appoint a part time Practitioner, in our Hervey Bay service centre, to deliver a range of regional domestic and family violence services within the framework of CFRS mission, values and vision.
We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified professional with a well-developed domestic and family violence practice framework. Demonstrated skills and experience in intake and assessment, crisis intervention, safety planning and brief solution-focused counselling are essential.
You will:

  • work to provide equitable services for clients
Skills and Experience:
  • demonstrated articulation of a well-developed practice framework and its relevance for supporting individuals impacted by family and domestic violence
  • well-developed applied understanding of the Domestic & Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act and Family Law Act as well as demonstrated skills and experience in crisis counselling and intervention
  • An understanding of the domestic violence court context, and a demonstrated record of achievement in program efficiency, effectiveness and continuous improvement
  • knowledge of, and experience in the development and delivery of education and training to diverse stakeholders and age groups, including adult learning principles
  • demonstrated skills and experience in providing intake, risk assessments, DVO assistance and safety planning
  • knowledge, skills and experience in the provision of brief, solution-focused counselling and psycho-educational and therapeutic groups for woman and children impacted by domestic and family violence
  • extensive knowledge of Domestic Violence Legislation, Child Safety Legislation and the Family Law Act
  • well-developed written work including report writing, case notes, data collection, data entry and computer literacy skills
  • relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioral Sciences, from a recognised tertiary institution
  • eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, or similar recognised professional association
  • have a current Blue Card – or be eligible to apply
  • have a current driver’s licence
  • agree (if offered employment), that Centacare can conduct an Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check
  • agree to sign a statutory declaration stating you have no overseas criminal offences
  • have Australian Work Rights – Australian citizenship/Visa documentary evidence is to be provided at interview (please contact us for detail if needed)
