About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will work strategically and in partnership across the organisation to deliver on the key portfolio areas of Planning and Building, Economic Development, Tourism, Council Events Management, and the General Inspectorate.

Responsibilities include:
  • Lead and manage a high-performance portfolio to achieve strategic goals and KPI’s
  • Drive continuous improvement plans and innovation
  • Manage the overall employee experience, including staff goal setting, professional development and performance management
  • Build mutually beneficial relationships with Councillors and apply exceptional political acumen
  • Collaborate across departments and within the executive team
  • Engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and ensure exceptional communication across all mediums.
About You
  • Comprehensive technical skills and abilities, knowledge-base and experience related to the City Growth portfolio
  • Working knowledge of the Local Government Planning reform is highly desirable
  • A relevant tertiary degree in Planning, Economic Development or similar
  • Previous experience across a number of industry sectors, public and private
  • A strategic and flexible leader that can deal with risk, challenges and change management
  • High-level communication skills and the ability to advocate for Council and community interests
  • Strong emotional intelligence, integrity and resilience
