Mount Gibson Iron Limited is an established independent Australian producer of premium quality direct shipping iron ore (DSO) with assets in the Kimberley and Mid-West regions of Western Australia.
Mount Gibson Iron is excited to be recruiting for our new Mine Site - Shine. Shine is located just 375km northeast of Perth in the Mid-West region of Western Australia.

About the role:
We are now seeking to employ an experienced Shot Crew Labourer at our new Shine Mine Site on a 14/7 (12-hour day) roster. Our FIFO and DIDO rosters will appeal to candidate in either Geraldton or Perth.
Reporting directly to the Drill Blast Manager the primary focus of this role is being responsible for the safe and efficient implementation of blasting practices to achieve project daily production targets. Members of the Shot Crew are actively engaged in marking out, priming, loading, stemming, and doing all things necessary to support and assist the Shot Firer to achieve the daily drilling and blasting objectives in a safe and efficient manner.

Key tasks and responsibilities
  • Position reports to the Shotfirer, Senior Shotfirer and Production Superintendent.
  • Inspection of the work area for hazards, malfunctions, or damage
  • Inspecting and servicing equipment
  • Assisting Shotfirer to prime, load, stem and fire shot
  • Locating, priming, and tying in blast holes to designated pattern
  • Stemming holes
  • Conducting Audits re stock in Magazines
  • Operating Mining Equipment as required
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
  • Current WA “C” – Motor vehicle licence for manual transmission.
  • Current WA Police Clearance not more than 3 months old.
  • DGSC
  • First Aid training
  • Exposure to heavy labouring tasks in outdoor conditions
  • Shot Crew Blasting experience (desirable).
  • Exposure to open cut mining environment (desirable).
