Full time permanent role providing general maintenance to a portfolio of about 80 apartments together with communal spaces.

Southern Cross Care (Qld) has an opportunity for a person to join our team at our Holland Park (Parque Vista) Retirement Village, in the role of Caretaker/ Gardener, assisting the Retirement Village Manager to maintain a portfolio of around 80 apartments and several communal facilities.

Duties include grounds and pool maintenance, cleaning, preventative and reactive maintenance and general upkeep whilst responding to wide-ranging resident enquiries and requests to support our residents to enjoy a relaxed and comfortable lifestyle.
This role is offered on a permanent full time basis.  The role is covered under our Enterprise Agreement and will be paid at an hourly rate of $23.33.  This role is eligible for not for profit salary packaging, which can increase your take home pay.

Some key responsibilities of the role include:
  • Undertaking daily site inspections
  • Performing general handyman, maintenance and caretaking duties
  • Liaising and working with residents
  • Ensuring enquiries and maintenance requests are actioned and followed up in a timely manner
  • Arranging quotes for minor maintenance works
  • Coordinating and supervising external contractors
  • Ensuring all areas of the Buildings are compliant with the latest regulations
  • Handling after hour emergencies and other various duties
To succeed in this role you will need:
  • Previous experience and knowledge in general and commercial maintenance and gardening
  • Exceptional people and interpersonal skills
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively
  • Strong problems solving ability and decision making skills
  • Good computer literacy to use reporting and database systems as well as email and word processing
