Minjar Gold is an Australian gold explorer, developer and producer. Since 2009, Minjar Gold has developed, and operated assets spread throughout Western Australia and Queensland. Located south-west of Townsville, the Pajingo mine is around 50km from Charters Towers and currently employs around 200 people to run the underground mining, open-cut and ore processing operations. Charters Towers is close to Townsville and the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef. It also offers excellent schooling opportunities and has all the facilities that you would expect in a large regional town.

About the role

Minjar Gold is experiencing a period of exciting growth at our Pajingo gold operation including the development of a new box-cut and portal. We currently have a vacancy for an Environmental Advisor to join our team on a 12-month fixed term contract based in Charters Towers or DIDO on a 5:2/4:3 roster.
  
Reporting to the Senior Environmental Advisor, your primary responsibility will be to fulfill all environmental sampling, monitoring, reporting, and compliance requirements for site in accordance with the Environmental Management Plan and applicable legislative requirements.
  
Duties and responsibilities will include to:  
  • Conduct sampling, monitoring, inspection, and auditing activities
  • Gather, analyse, interpret, and report environmental data for site
  • Assist with environmental incident investigations as required
  • Provide training, support, and mentorship to the site operational teams
About you
  
To be successful in this role you will ideally possess;  
  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Management or equivalent
  • Have significant hands on experience in a mine site environmental role
  • Working knowledge of relevant environmental legislation
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyse and interpret data
  • Ability to work as part of a high performing, tight-knit team
  • Be able to effectively communicate and adaptable to change
