About Us
As a subsidiary of a listed company, Minjar Gold is an Australian operated gold explorer, developer and producer who has been operating since 2009 and is focused on gold exploration and production in both Western Australia and Queensland.  As an emerging Australian gold producer, Minjar Gold wholly owns the Golden Dragon (WA) and Pajingo (QLD) operations and manages Barto Gold Mining’s Southern Cross Operations at Marvel Loch. (WA)
Located south-west of Townsville, the Pajingo mine is around 50km from Charters Towers and currently employs around 200 people to run the underground mining, open pit and ore processing operations. Charters Towers is close to Townsville and the beauty of the Great barrier Reef and offers excellent schooling opportunities and has all the facilities that you would expect in a large regional town.  

About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mine Surveyor to join our team on a permanent basis, based in Charters Towers or FIFO working an 8/6 roster.
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, this position is responsible the day to day leadership and direction of survey function onsite to support the technical services team.
  • Provide direction, leadership and support to the survey team
  • Prepare, maintain, and certify mine plans as per legislative requirements
  • Perform underground survey activities including survey mark-up of planned development, planned drilling & diamond drilling, development pickups, stope void surveying and check surveys as the mine development advances
  • Assist with surface surveying including stockpile and dump pickups, surface excavation pickups and surface prism monitoring
  • Ensure the maintenance and calibration of survey equipment, and drive the design & implementation of systems and procedures
  • Maintain and validate the mine survey database and the mine void model and reporting of non-conformances
  • Assist where appropriate in the mine scheduling and forecasting process and with the preparation of operational reports  
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess;  
  • Tertiary qualifications in Surveying
  • Holder of authorised Mine Surveyor Certification
  • Possess strong leadership skills and a safety focused attitude
  • Solid experience in an underground surveying role, with open-pit experience highly regarded
  • Proficiency with mine surveying software, with previous experience using Surpac or Deswik highly desirable
  • A Queensland manual driver’s license
  • A proactive attitude, collaborative approach and commitment to safety
