Operating since 2009, Minjar Gold is an Australian gold explorer, developer and producer with projects and operations in both Western Australia and Queensland.  Our Southern Cross Operations are located in the Goldfields region of WA, with operating open pits and underground mines, a gold processing facility and a tenement package in excess of 1,400km2.

Due to growth in our Western Australian operations, we are seeking to recruit a Mine Geologist – Open Pit to join our Southern Cross operation. The is a permanent role working an 8:6 roster BIBO from Perth. 
About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, this role is responsible for the implementation of grade control practices, production monitoring and reconciliation within the mining operations and assisting with the supervision and coordination of mine geology practices.

The responsibilities of the role include:  
  • Implement and manage grade control programs including drilling, sampling and assay dispatch.
  • Assist in developing a rolling schedule for grade control modelling based on the mine schedule.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of grade control procedures and practices.
  • Delineate ore blocks and mark out in the pit as required minimizing delay to mining fleet and ensuring accuracy of ore mined.
  • Advise mining team on most effective excavation of ore to minimize dilution and maximise recovery.
  • Geologically map active pits to assist in ore body delineation and understanding.
  • Identify and assess near mine extension opportunities.
  • Monitor production and stockpiling.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess;
  • Tertiary qualification in Geology or equivalent.
  • 2+ years geology experience, particularly within in a site based Mine Geologist capacity.
  • A background in Archaean gold mineralization.
  • Experience in operational grade control roles demonstrating an appreciation of model-mine-mill reconciliation procedures.
  • Experience in ore control data collection and analysis.
  • Able to troubleshoot complex problems with a variety of source data.
  • The ideal applicant will be a motivated self-starter who possess strong initiative skills and has the ability to work both collaboratively within the team and independently with the mining environment.
