Our client is a leading and highly reputable business across AUS, seeking a Procurement Officer to join their team. They are a leading supplier of high quality energy and specialised engineering solutions for submarine platforms.

The successful candidate will be a forward looking, team player who will be responsible for leading and supporting new and future business activities through strategic supply chain management expertise. You will also have proven experience in leading subcontract development and supplied management and have demonstrated success in similar roles. 

Job tasks and responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Be able to work with external and internal customers to gain a clear understanding of their needs in order to establish suitable contracts with suppliers.
  • facilitate end to end contract negotiations a with current and potential suppliers.
  • Drive the RFQ process with full end to end ownership.
  • lead supplier escalations and engagement where supplier performance is below ideal targets.
  • develop, lead and execute sourcing strategies based on research and analysis to optimise outcomes and meet stakeholder needs and expectations.
  • Implement category and procurement strategies.
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies across vendors spend.
  • Produce reporting on procurement.
  • negotiating and formalising all pricing.
Skills and experience 
To match with the business values and fit this role you will have:
  • Extensive strategic procurement experience especially with overseas suppliers in the defence, manufacturing or resources industry.
  • Have demonstrated experience in successful developing and implementing innovative best practice procurement strategies and solution.
  • You must have excellent negotiating skills, price analysis and the confidence to give rationale behind your strategy to stakeholders at differing levels.
  • 5 years + experience relevant to this role.
  • Must be an Australian citizen or be capable of attaining Australian Defence Security clearance.
