Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) Director – Maternity Leave Position

A NFP parent committee is looking for a Director to join their Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) centre for a maternity leave position in Sydney’s North Shore, Turramurra area. The position is open to starting from anytime to November to ensure a handover can occur.
  • $99K package | Offering well above award rates | Split Shifts
  • Full Time | 38 Hours | Opportunity to stay on in another senior capacity.
  • No vacation care - this position and the other 3 senior roles are paid to work during the school holidays to help catch up on any admin work (imagine time to ensure policies are up to date? time for working on the QIP? and so much more) or plan for the following term. 
  • Great organisational structure with plenty of support from other permanent educators of two Deputy Coordinators and an Assistant Coordinator / Educational Leader, all of which are full time.
  • Approved for 200 places.
About the role:
  • A great maternity leave Director position paying $90K + super ($99K package) until November 2020.
  • A full time, 38-hour position working split shifts of before and after school care for great work life balance.
  • The school holidays are 100% used for admin time, giving you plenty of time to catch up on anything needed.
  • Located on Sydney’s North Shore in the Turramurra area.
  • Own space within school grounds, supportive school and community.
  • For the right applicant, the employer is happy to keep them on in another senior capacity once the maternity position finalises.
  • Supportive parent committee that recognises and values Educators.
  • The position has a great handover period to ensure the new Director is settled.
  • Approved Provider is a volunteer Parent Management Committee whose main priority is quality for the children.
Indicative Duties:
  • Responsible for the overall management and administration of the service.
  • Supervise the implementation of developmentally appropriate programs for children (which is created by the Educational Leader).
  • Recruit staff in accordance with relevant regulations in collaboration with the Management Committee.
  • Ensure that the service adheres to all relevant regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure that the service meets or exceeds the national quality standards requirements.
  • Liaise with families and outside agencies.
  • Liaise with management committees as appropriate.
  • Provide professional leadership and development to staff.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the service.

  • Ability to communicate, relate and liaise effectively at all levels especially with children, staff and parents.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and to delegate effectively.
  • Self-motivated, drive, initiative, an ability to work effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to cope with high and varying workloads.
  • Desire to promote quality childcare and education.
  • Reliable and compassionate
  • High level of communication skills, verbal, written and inter-personal.
  • Proven leadership ability.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Dedicated to developing a harmonious team environment, incorporating leadership based on respect, understanding and effective communication.
Who are we looking for?
  • Someone who has worked in an OSHC service with 100+ children. As this service caters to up to 200 children.
  • Diploma in Children’s Services (Out-of-Hours Care), or equivalent.
  • Genuine desire to work with children in school aged cared (5 to 12 years old).
  • CHCPRT001: Identify and respond to children and young people at risk - Accredited Child Protection.
  • HLTAID004: Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NQF and all it encompasses - NQS, Framework, Regulations.
  • Understanding that this position is the Nominated Supervisor.
