ABOUT THE ROLE:
Reporting to an entrepreneurial and highly influential Head of Finance, you will support the delivery of major finance objectives as the organisation aims to continue its aggressive growth journey. The Management Accountant will act as a true partner and 2IC to the Head of Finance to provide ongoing financial strategic support, transformation and efficiency improvements. Working closely with finance and an impressive leadership team, you will be instrumental in working cross functionally with the business. This role will be critical in ensuring the company employs robust operational, budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes and delivers accurate and comprehensive reports and analysis to internal and external stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to a high performing Head of Finance, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ownership and delivery of month end closure procedures to ensure deadlines are met;
  • Financial reporting and management of external & internal audits;
  • Establishment of accounting principles, practices, policies and procedures;
  • Ensure tax management and compliance;
  • Support preparation of budgets, forecasts, variance analysis and board reporting;
  • Business partner sales, operations and the leadership team to identify opportunities to increase profitability, competitor advantage, shareholder value and business growth;
  • Act as a critical finance lead to the leadership team who will seek your support and guidance on preparing key insights and analysis for key business decision making;
  • Work closely with business leaders to support and develop financial models to assist in evaluating new business concepts, turning insights into operational measurements;
  • Provide financial advice and support to key business leaders to effectively and efficiently manage business operations and performance;
  • Work with cross functional leaders for continuous improvements and innovation leveraging technologies and applications.
 
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
You are either already CA/CPA qualified or working towards completion. You may be a Big 4/Mid-Tier first mover looking for your first step into a broad commercial accounting position or you have at least 2-3 years’ experience in a Commercial Financial Accountant or Management Accountant position. You possess month end experience and feel comfortable managing P&Ls. You have a deep desire to progress your career into a more commercial and analytical path. You possess strong experience working cross functionally with business unit heads to provide insights, with the ability to translate the numbers into improved business results in a non-financial environment. In addition, you will have:

  • Strong commercial finance acumen with a proven track record of actively driving commercial agendas across the business.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with non finance stakeholders.
  • Exposure to a mid-tier or large ERP system such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle or NetSuite.
  • Intermediate to advanced excel skills. 
  • Highly developed written & verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively manage a wide range of key stakeholders.
  • Pro-active and customer focused mind set.
  • The ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Superior stakeholder management, including advanced influencing and negotiation skills.
