About the Role:

We are currently looking for a junior Radiation Oncologist to fill the position of Clinical/Research Fellow for 2020.  Reporting directly to the State Radiation Oncology lead for Icon Cancer Centres, this fellowship opportunity enables a junior clinician to gain additional training and research skills before taking on a full time Radiation Oncology position.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity work between three of Icon Group’s South East Queensland sites, including Greenslopes Private Hospital, Gold Coast Private Hospital and Gold Coast University Hospital, giving the fellow access to over 15 Radiation Oncologists during their tenure.  Having access to world class technology such as the latest Varian Truebeam linear accelerators equipped with HyperArc®, BrainLab Exactrac imaging solutions and advanced treatment techniques.
Key Responsibilities
Program Objectives
  • To provide clinical experience in the management of patients receiving stereotactic body and brain radiosurgery/radiotherapy
  • To enable and support clinical research in stereotactic body and brain radiosurgery/radiotherapy
  • To provide additional generalized clinical training to well-trained and qualified candidates
  • Clinical workload as directed by direct supervisor/s
  • Conduct research studies in Radiation Oncology (Stereotactic body and brain) under mentorship
  • Contributes effectively to the collective team effort, MDT's and QA chart rounds
  • Compliance as a healthcare provider with credentialing and compliance requirements such as CPD, insurance and immunisation
  • Have completed their part 2 exams
  • Eligible for fellowship registration with RANZCR
  • Previous experience with stereotactic radiation therapy ideal

Skills & Experience

  • Eligible for appropriate registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA
  • Successful completion of the Radiation Oncology Registrar Part 2 Exam
  • Sub-specialty training and recognition in Radiation Oncology qualifying for Fellowship of RANZCR or on Specialist Pathway to Fellowship.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and carry out specific tasks with minimal supervision, but possess professional judgment to determine the need to seek advice from Senior Medical Staff when appropriate.
  • Experience in the management and use of radiation therapy in treating patients with malignant disease. Able to carry out a range of associated procedures. 
  • Apply effective communication and interpersonal skills to represent Icon Group in a strong and positive manner to all stakeholders.
