The Opportunity
Reporting directly into the MD and Board, this role is responsible for the leadership and overall financial management of this rapidly growing construction business, utilising your financial and people leadership skills.

With multiple offices located across the South Island, and with more opening in the North, you will focus on establishing an efficient back office function that will meet the growing demands of the company, identifying the best systems and processes that best meet the needs of the wider group of companies.

As there isn’t a large team in place, this role would suit a hands-on individual with a knowledge of the construction sector who has experience in growing teams and leading non-financial staff, with a view to moving into a full CFO role over the next 18 – 24 months.
The Company
This is an established construction company that has experienced significant growth over the past 5 years’ and already has significant growth plans underway for the coming financial year, through acquisition and organically.
The Role
  • In-house development of a robust cash-flow forecasting and management reporting process
  • Developing and fine tuning the management reporting process including management / board pack
  • Inputting tools that allow the company to thoroughly analyse and utilise the large amounts of data they capture (sales, financials, KPI’s etc.)
  • Oversight of contracts including procurement and supply chain, including supporting negotiations around pricing
  • Handling other third-party vendors such as insurances, telecommunications and IT
  • Providing general leadership in place of the MD when they are travelling
Your Profile
  • Experienced Finance Manager / Controller with a background in the construction industry strongly preferred
  • Be confident in establishing back offices functions and selecting and implementing systems to match a businesses financial and operational needs
  • Happy to be hands on initially (monthly management reporting / forecasting etc.) whilst establishing the systems and processes required to develop a team
  • Be comfortable handling procurement & supplier contracts and general 3rd party management of insurances / telco / IT etc. supporting the negotiation process to ensure best value is being received
  • Be CA or CPA qualified
  • Have the desire to move into a commercial CFO role over the next 18 – 24 months
