About your new role
  
We are seeking Residential Advisors (RA’s) to join the UniLodge team at John Grey Hall.

Day to day duties
  • Act a “Mentor” and be a friendly and open point of contact for assistance, information and welfare to residents.
  • Organise, promote and manage events and activities for residents at John Grey Hall.
  • Provide advice and report any concerns regarding resident welfare.
  • Promote a strong, safe and inclusive community.
  • Assist the Management team with grievances and/or conflict resolution as required.
  • Be an active member of the emergency response team during shift times and other times when in the building.
  • Carry the after-hours emergency phone when on duty.
  • Provide after hours on-call assistance to residents of UniLodge.
  • Call the emergency services when appropriate to ensure a quick response to any emergency.
What you’ll need to succeed
  • All applicants must have already been a resident at John Grey Hall for 6 months or more at commencement in the position.
  • All applicants be a current resident at UniLodge John Grey Hall holding a residence agreement concluding end of semester 2 November 2021.
  • Enrolled at a university in at least your second year of an undergraduate or vocational education program, or in a postgraduate program, maintaining above average academic standing in 2020.
  • A demonstrated capacity for leadership and maturity.
  • An ability to respond to difficult or challenging situations in a calm and responsible manner while following all appropriate procedures.
  • Have empathy with the diverse issues faced by university students and an appreciation of the needs of students in residential accommodation.
  • Good writing skills and ability to motivate others.
  • High level of creativity and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to interact with residents of many different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Experience living in student residential accommodation.
  • Must have flexible availability to meet the training and rostering requirements, including during weekends.
