Digital & Technology Solutions is Curtin University’s internal IT function, focused on delivering enterprise digital and technology solutions across the University. We deliver these solutions by leveraging a trusted partner and business IT model that is based upon the Curtin values and a set of IT team philosophies.
  
We have recently transformed our approach and structure to ensure we are driving innovation in a scalable and agile manner that delivers an impact the first time. We are on the journey to delivery of our new IT strategy and build the next five (5) year digital roadmap with the University.

We are seeking a Business Engagement Consultant to join the team and work closely with partners from across the University to proactively elicit their business needs, issues and outcomes and translate these needs into innovative digital projects.
  
In this role you will...
  • Develop a detailed understanding of business processes, and generate insights on what technical solutions to build and why.
  • Facilitate the re-engineering of business processes to support the delivery of high impact IT solutions.
  • Analyse data to inform decisions, and map and document current and future-state business processes.
  • Elicit information from partners, and use methods such as user insight statements and stories to document business needs.
  • Assist business owners to identify and determine business objectives and future requirements.
  • Facilitate engagement between the business and relevant technical specialist areas to define appropriate technical solutions.
  • Support the project managers in the delivery of IT projects as the business champion.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest tools and techniques.

We are looking for someone with…
  • A degree in a business or design related field with relevant experience in working in complex organisations.
  • Strong experience/capability in reviewing and analysing business processes, practices and procedures and/or systems and applications using agile and human centred design techniques.
  • Well-developed organisational skills and knowledge of project management methods and tools.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to consult and liaise effectively with a diverse range of partners.
  • Sound written communication skills with the ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications, reports and other relevant documentation in clear and user-friendly language.
  • Effective oral communication skills with the ability to present in front of business partners and apply dynamic human centred design tools to deliver business outcomes.
  • Outstanding stakeholder and relationship management skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently with limited direction as well as collaboratively and effectively as part of a team.
