Digital & Technology Solutions is Curtin University’s internal IT function focused on delivering enterprise digital and technology solutions across the University. We deliver these solutions by leveraging a trusted partner and business IT model that is based upon the Curtin values and a new set of IT team philosophies.

Your new role

Digital & Technology Solutions is seeking experienced Solution Architects to develop effective technical strategies to integrate business, information, systems and technology architectures.  Partnering with the Engagement & Discovery team as well as IT Operations Team you will ensure solution designs meet the business outcomes and University strategic goals and policies.  

You will
  • Review, interpret and respond to business requirements to ensure alignment between customer expectations and current or future ICT capability;
  • Provide input to the strategic direction of technology investments to assist in the development of the enterprise architecture and maximise the return on technology investment;
  • Within the agreed enterprise architecture, define and design technology solutions to assist the business in meeting their business objectives;
  • Provide architectural guidance and support to implementation teams through all phases of a project;
  • Fully participate and engage in the team culture, mindsets & philosophies by modelling the expected behaviours and values.

You will bring to the role

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Solution Architect;
  • Relevant degree or professional qualifications in information and communication technology and/or relevant experience in the field of information technology;
  • An understanding of ICT architecture & design approaches (e.g. concept, logical, physical) and able to apply a pragmatic and agile approach to solving business problems;
  • Demonstrated ability to identify where emerging technologies or methods may add value to an organisation’s business objectives;
  • Demonstrated experience using an architecture modelling language such as ArchiMate or UML;
  • Demonstrated experience using an architecture modelling tool such as Sparx EA or iServer;
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of software development methodologies such as the Agile iterative approach;
  • Qualification in TOGAF 9 will be well regarded;
  • Prior experience in higher education and an awareness of the uses of ICT within a university environment will be well regarded;
  • Demonstrated high level communication (verbal, written and presentation/facilitation) and interpersonal skills along with proven ability to interact professionally with clients;
