Who is Standards Australia?

We are an independent not-for-profit organisation, recognised by the Australian Government as the peak non-government Standards body. We develop internationally aligned Australian Standards in the national interest and work closely with government, industry, consumer and stakeholder groups.

About the role

The role of the Publishing Coordinator is to produce drafts of standards on our current active worklist in a range of formats (eg. pdf, xml, html, Word) at Public Comment and Publication stages; to manage the standards catalogue and coordinate standards-related information and services to Standards Australia’s teams, technical committees and a wider stakeholder audience; and to provide a focal point for the interface between Standards Australia, our distribution partners, and Standards New Zealand.

Key responsibilities
  • Issuing opening and closing dates for publication drafts for Public Comment
  • Check publication drafts are complete, ready for publishing and uploading to the transfer websites for SAI Global, Techstreet and IRIS
  • Issuing the ISBNs at publication stage
  • Preparing the covers of documents at Publication stage
  • Undertaking spot checks to ensure that the Standards and other publications developed by requirements set out in the publishing license agreement prior to hand over to distribution partners
  • Reporting - Checking monthly royalty reports, prepare the Sector Report (monthly)
  • Pricing - add preliminary pricing to new Kanban tickets and download ISO and IEC price data
  • Prepare ISO and IEC SIM data files and SA public website catalogue
  • Check which IEC publications are to be adopted and load to SIM (weekly). Administer committee member access to the standards catalogue, as required
  • Producing and printing letters and certificates for committee members
  • Support the technical work of the Operations team within Publishing Services
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
  • Experience as a production assistant or technical administration support similar role in the publishing industry
  • Knowledge of digital or electronic publishing
  • Experience in working in an ISO 9001:2000 environment
  • Knowledge of Adobe suite and/or PDF/XML/HTML technology
  • A general understanding of the standards development process would be an advantage
  • Experience in working in an information centre or similar records keeping environment would be of assistance
