Who is Standards Australia?

We are an independent not-for-profit organisation, recognised by the Australian Government as the peak non-government Standards body. We develop internationally aligned Australian Standards in the national interest and work closely with government, industry, consumer and stakeholder groups.

About the Role

The key role of the Stakeholder Engagement team is to identify internationally aligned standards development opportunities for the net benefit of the Australian community. 

The Stakeholder Engagement Manager manages a multitude of relationships with government and industry groups, identifies priorities for Australia and connects Australian stakeholders internationally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively engage and manage relationships with government, regulators, industry groups and other key stakeholders
  • Develop extensive knowledge of an industry/economic sector and establish a presence in the sector
  • Proactively work with industry and government to identify where standards solutions can support market and policy challenges
  • Identify international standards development opportunities in priority areas for Australia
  • Support standards development activities in close collaboration with the standards development team
  • Build and manage relationships with nominating organisations and facilitate their involvement in the standards development process
  • Evaluate project proposals and provide recommendations
  • Prepare submissions to the Commonwealth on matters of sector policy on behalf of Standards Australia
  • Develop and deliver public presentations
What are we looking for?

Minimum Education/Professional Qualifications Required:
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in business, politics, law, communication or other relevant field
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a stakeholder engagement, account management, business development or policy role
Skills and Experience:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build and develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Advanced negotiation, facilitation and problem solving skills
  • Resilience, initiative and commitment to the delivery of services to stakeholders
