The Data Modeller will be responsible for the design and implementation of company databases. As a data modeler, the role will work closely with data architects and data analysts to implement data modeling solutions in order to streamline and support enterprise information management. The role requires the ability to design models that reduce data redundancy, streamline data movements, and improve enterprise information management. This role will support the Data Management Lead and the Data Governance Committee in shaping data management enterprise solutions and supporting the delivery of data management related outcomes to the organisation.

Other duties will include working with inter-disciplinary teams, improving and streamlining data systems within the company, and driving innovation.
You can be based anywhere in Australia as this role is remote.

This role reports to the Data Management Lead.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Analyzing and translating business needs into long-term solution data models.
  2. Evaluating existing data systems.
  3. Working with the development team to create conceptual data models and data flows.
  4. Developing best practices for data coding to ensure consistency within the system.
  5. Reviewing modifications of existing systems for cross-compatibility.
  6. Implementing data strategies and developing physical data models.
  7. Updating and optimizing local and metadata models.
  8. Evaluating implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency.
  9. Troubleshooting and optimizing data systems
  10. Managing master data, including creation, updates, and deletion.
  11. Designing data models to assure data quality, confidentiality, and privacy of data.
  12. Supporting initiatives for data integrity and normalization.
  13. Providing technical expertise in data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing
  14. Develop internal & external relationships with key stakeholders across the data management program and business, including an internal partnership model, to embed data management principles within the various business units
  15. Support the collection, storage, management, quality, and protection of data.
  16. Implementing data privacy policies and complying with data protection regulations.
  17. Knowledge of relevant applications, big data solutions, and tools.
  18. Serve as an advisor to the Data Governance Committee in developing and improving service and solution experiences across the organisation
  19. Adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to this position
  20. Carry out other duties as deemed reasonable and appropriate to the role as directed from time to time.
  1. 3-5 years of hands-on experience in business environments in physical and relational Data Modelling
  2. Expert knowledge of metadata management and related tools.
  3. Knowledge of mathematical foundations and statistical analysis.
  4. Demonstrable experience in developing, validating, publishing, maintaining logical data models with exposure to or experience in developing, validating, publishing, maintaining physical data models
  5. Demonstrable experience using data modeling tools - e.g. ErWin
  6. Evaluate existing data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies
  7. Experience with managing metadata for data models
  8. Demonstrable experience in developing, publishing, and maintaining all documentation for data models
  9. Work with Business Analysts, Data Architects, Software developers, DBAs to achieve project objectives - delivery dates, cost objectives, quality objectives, business customer satisfaction objectives, etc
  10. Leverage and enforce standards for data naming conventions to ensure consistency and reuse of data models
  11. Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts
  12. Validate business use cases for accuracy and completeness of proposed data models
  13. Advanced troubleshooting skills.
  14. Ability to work with stakeholders to assess potential risks.
  15. Ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide software solution recommendations.
  16. Demonstrated experience in handling and modeling large data sets and relational databases.
  17. High-level written and verbal communication skills.
  18. Demonstrated experience in engaging staff to deliver specialist outcomes.
  19. Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, expert and high-quality advice and recommendations to senior management, facilitation of workshops, and high-level report/writing capabilities
  20. Excellent management skills including the ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  21. Understanding of reporting & data visualisation tools such as Business Objects, PowerBI, and Tableau.
  22. Understanding of website scripts such as XML, Javascript, JSON.
  23. Understanding of ETL framework and ETL tools including Alteryx and Microsoft SSIS.
  24. Digital marketing analytics tools including Google 360, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Adobe Marketing Suite.
  25. Demonstrated ability to foster high-quality stakeholder relationships. 
  1. Qualification/certification in a Project Management methodology
  2. Current Australian Driver’s license
