Take the lead in advising and ensuring improvement and enhancement of organisational project methodologies.

  • $120-$130/hour + super, Canberra central location
  • Commencing early September 2020
  • 12-month contract, with scope for 2 year extension
We are seeking the requirements of experienced Project Managers with working knowledge of the current IIP Capability Development and Approval Process used in the Department of Defence. Multiple opportunities available.
 
The AGO is managing several major IT projects and these projects are currently driving the re-establishment of selected IT services within AGO following a period of centralised management.
The capabilities delivered by this program comprise systems of geospatial applications hosted on a GEOINT Platform, integrated into a suite of web based services
 
In this position duties will include, but not limited to: 
  • Proven ability to assume full responsibility for risk and the leadership and management of activities for planning, development and implementation of projects and systems to meet organisational requirements
  • Take the lead in advising and ensuring improvement and enhancement of organisational project methodologies.
  • Lead and manage capability lifecycles of systems development or enhancement
  • Take an active role in the planning, initiation and management of procurements to assist program and organisational requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills especially when dealing with a wide audience with different skill sets and expectations
  • Co-ordinate project resourcing to adhere to project priorities
  • Identify and manage project risk, issue management and associated reporting
  • Lead and manage project reviews and mandatory reporting mechanisms
  • Provide professional leadership and mentoring to junior Project Managers and Project Support Officers
  • Lead and manage project budgets, change control processes and quality reporting
  • Escalate and manage issues and seek advice from executive management in a timely manner when required.
  • Plan and implement organisational resourcing to meet business requirements
  • Contribute in the continuous improvement process by developing and enhancing procedures to make them more effective and streamlined
  • Experience working with Australian Government, Defence Department, Australian Intelligence Community and the Geospatial information/software domain will be highly regarded.
For this position you will need to hold a current Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance.
