Our client has a requirement for a Data Service Officer with subject matter expertise in GIS Data Services. This includes a tertiary degree in a relevant area, along with a minimum five years’ practical experience within industry including in depth knowledge ESRI’s enterprise software suite. Additionally, demonstrated experience in data discovery, quality control and technical documentation is required to assist the Capability Development Branch.
 
You will work under general direction within a clear framework of accountability. Exercises substantial personal responsibility and autonomy. Planning of your own work to meet given objectives and processes. Work will include a broad range of complex technical activities, in a variety of contexts. The role will investigate, define and resolve complex issues.
 
Duties for these positions are, but not limited to:
  • Provide consulting, implantation and technical writing services
  • Assist with spatial data types, Defence formats, GIS services standards and types and web service APIs
  • Assist and provide the service governance and policy relating to data and services.
  • Collaborate with other major government projects to assist in the design, test and implement data workflow strategies to efficiently transfer geospatial data across all domain classifications
  • Assist with resolving service architecture issues and factors that impede performance
  • Assist and provide proficiency in publishing GIS services.
  • Creation of a data inventory to manage and prioritise transfer and delivery of GIS services.

  • Minimal domestic travel is expected
For these positions you will need to hold a Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance or have the ability to obtain one. You will also be required to successfully pass a psychological assessment in order to be considered suitable to undertake the tasks.
