Our Firm
Come and right wrong with us. At Shine Lawyers, we are a non-traditional law firm committed to understanding the needs of our clients, pro-actively working to stand up for the little guy. We’re a national team of 700+ dedicated professionals, who enjoy coming in each day to help make a difference.

The Team
We are proud to have a motivated and expert team assisting primarily survivors of abuse. This dedicated team of experts collectively possess over 90 years of experience in abuse law, providing legal advice and guidance to survivors of abuse, standing as a voice for clients, and helping them access justice and acknowledgement for the wrongdoing they have suffered, whilst handling our clients' claims with empathy, and a willingness to think creatively.

The Role
A rare opportunity for a Practice Leader to lead and grow our Abuse Law practice has arisen, based in our Melbourne CBD office.
You'll have the opportunity to work alongside pre-eminent experts in the field, who have been invited to speak both locally and internationally as part of various committees and enquiries.

This role will not just see you secure justice for those who have been wronged, but also give you the opportunity to influence change in the way we protect our children.

Note that although experience in Abuse Law is beneficial, we are open to mentoring an outstanding personal injury lawyer to success in this particular specialisation.
  • Take an active role in working with and mentoring, a team of solicitors, paralegals and administration support staff
  • Be commercially responsible and fiscally aware, in relation to running files
  • Develop and maintain strong professional working relationships with clients, including effective and regular communication, and managing the client's expectations
  • Ensure all matters managed in line with Shine’s case management approach
  • Work closely with management to ensure the function is working efficiently and effectively, including staff performance
Please note that although this role is a full time opportunity, we are open to discussions around flexible work arrangements for the right candidate.

Required Skills
  • Minimum 5 years post admission experience in personal injuries
  • A strong commercial mind, with the presence and reputation to build and develop mutually-beneficial referral networks
  • Technical expertise, with the skills to manage complex legal matters in the abuse law space, and the ability to instil further expertise in your team
  • A mature leadership approach, having led high-performing teams to success in the past
  • The drive and enthusiasm to continue to grow the practice even further
  • A client-oriented mindset, instilling purpose throughout the practice
  • Specialist accreditation is highly desirable, but not essential for success
