The role

Shine Lawyers is currently offering an opportunity for a Law Clerk or Junior Solicitor in our Hervey Bay office to work across our core personal injury practice, which handles work injury damages, CTP and public liability matters. This is a part-time, permanent opportunity available across a maximum of 3 days per week, with those days being flexible. 
 
This is a fantastic opportunity for a student in the early years of their law degree who would like to build upon their practical experience in a law firm, or someone recently admitted and eager. Ideally, the successful candidate will have some practical experience in a law firm working across either work injury damages, CTP and/or public liability matters.  

The responsibilities
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, providing regular and effective communication whilst managing the client’s expectations.
  • Provide accurate legal advice in a professional, ethical and effective manner to suit client needs, whilst incorporating the firm’s ideology
  • Obtain maximum compensation for clients through opening new files
  • Progress files in a timely manner and resolving files with professional fees billed in accordance with targets
  • Utilise internal case management systems, including Elite, effectively and in accordance with Shine requirements
  • Drafting legal documents in a concise and effective manner
  • Seek professional guidance and development from senior solicitors and managers where appropriate
  • Take an active role in building the external profile of the branch/department
The skills 
  • Preferred experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or Law Clerk with significant personal injury experience
  • Ideally, you will have significant experience across work injury damages, CTP and/or public liability matters
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on empathy
  • Ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Ability to problem solve with strong attention to detail
  • Experience drafting legal documentation is preferred
  • Strong relationship building skills and experience working in teams
  • Demonstrated negotiation and advocacy skills
