Starlight Children's Foundation - Volunteers

Starlight's State Advisory Boards contribute knowledge, expertise, support & assist Starlight in delivering fundraising revenue in line with Starlight

Roles & Responsibilities
Starlight is seeking members who:

  • have the ability to broaden business and/or philanthropic networking opportunities;
  • be aligned with the Starlight Mission and willing to be Starlight advocates;
  • have passion for fundraising and willingness to ‘ask’ for support.
The member’s roles and responsibilities are to assist and support the SPM and local fundraising team to:

  • Plan for, implement and participate in local fundraising development and initiatives supporting the Starlight Strategy in delivering budgeted revenue.
  • Provide Starlight with access to local networks of individuals and organisations to enhance and grow Starlight’s sphere of influence and support.
  • Provide opportunities to involve appropriately qualified people to deliver strategic growth and development.
  • Provide access to local media to leverage the National Marketing and Communications Plan in raising brand awareness.
  • Support with attendance / speaking at events as a Starlight representative /ambassador.
  • Support the Starlight team when requested, with activities with or for donors.
Raise any important local issues and strategic policy matters at SABs meetings for the State President to advise the CEO and Board via State Liaison Meetings.

About Starlight’s State Advisory Boards:

SABs comprise a minimum of [7] and a maximum of [12] members.
Each SAB must meet a minimum of six times per year. We ask members to attend a minimum of 4 meetings a year.

Safeguarding Children & Young People

Children and young people are at the heart of Starlight’s Mission. Our first and most important responsibility is the safety and well-being of the children and young people we support.
At Starlight, we have a commitment to safeguard the children and young people we work with. We have an internal policy that we abide by which underpins our employment and volunteering with Starlight.
Members are asked to provide two reference checks and are asked to undertake:

  • National Police Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Safeguarding Children and Young People training
