The Employer

The Role
The Cost Accountant will be a key business partner in decision making for the development of new products, value optimisation, and margin performance across all current and future products. They will play a pivotal role in the accurate analysis of relevant cost data, be responsible for product costings and the analysis of performance to production standards.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, some of the core tasks in the role will include:
  • Develop and maintain the costing model and standard costings
  • Review and analyse standard costs vs actual performance and initial costings. Propose amendments for discrepancies identified within the system.
  • Analysis of production variances and investigation into yield and wastage
  • Work closely with the commercial and research and development teams to design costings and carry out pressure testing/sensitivity analysis for new and existing products in development.
  • Confidently challenging the commercial team on all assumptions – pricing and promotions related
  • Advise the Finance Team on all new and existing product development changes to be reflected in forecast and budget models to enable accurate financial analysis
  • Preparation of monthly variance reports with commentary to assist in the delivery of monthly management and board reporting
  • Maintain profit improvement plan trackers for operations and procurement related initiatives
  • Preparation of monthly forecasts and yearly budgets for the Finance Managers’ perusal
The Successful Applicant
  • Will bring previous sound costing and management accounting experience.
  • Has previously worked in manufacturing (preferably food) industry.
  • Possesses advanced Excel skills and can develop complex costing models.  
  • Can business partner and forge strong relationships.
  • Ability to work autonomously in high-pressure environments.
