O&G company seeking an HSE Advisor to support an upcoming project

Rata Recruitment is working with a leading O&G firm in New Zealand and as such have an exciting opportunity for you to consider!

The Role:
Responsible for facilitating and assisting in the implementation and adoption of the clients HSE Management System and related plans to ensure a safe, healthy and secure work environment.

Skills and Experience:
Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and industry best practice.
2. Assist in establishing, implementing and maintaining practices and procedures as part of a Health, Safety and Environmental Management System.
3. Coordinate and conduct regular inspections and audits of all operations, reporting on findings and observations with recommendations and establishment of corrective actions for continual improvement.
4. Participate in HSE, pre-start and toolbox meetings.
5. Assist with the application of the HSE training competency matrix and records for all applicable staff.
6. Conduct investigations and undertake root cause analysis of significant incidents including near misses. Ensure that corrective actions are implemented.
7. Coach personnel, supervisors and management to improve their understanding and capability to better manage Health, Safety and Environmental matters.
8. Coordinate the development of appropriate risk management, crisis management and emergency response plans.
9. Provide a lead to ensure regular emergency drills are held and reported as per the calendar schedule.
10. Responsible for maintaining a robust hazard/risk management procedure that identifies and controls hazards and risks.
11. Support a programme to build staff awareness of Health, Safety and Environmental issues that foster the development of a culture where continuing improvement is critical to success.

Quality Systems:
1. Participate in the development and maintenance of the company quality policies, standards and procedures.
2. Maintain training and competency in the execution of procedures to accomplish the objectives of the QMS.
3. Complete and maintain documentation records as required by the QMS.

Qualifications/Experience:
  • Thorough knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental practices.
  • Minimum 3 years previous experience within the oil industry.
  • Third level qualification BA/ Diploma/ Certificate in a Health & Safety field is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of OH&S and ACC legislation and its application in the workplace.
  • Solid knowledge of hazard and risk management.
  • Ability to apply accident investigation methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to positively increase HSSE performance by influencing,
  • supporting and coaching.
  • Strong organisational skills in relation to planning, time management, record keeping, administration
  • and the meeting of deadlines.
  • Office suite skills.
  • Membership of relevant professional association is required.
  • First Aid qualification is desirable.
