 About the Role:

Reporting to the Manager Health Wellbeing and Compliance this role will lead all aspects of emergency service capabilities including specialist care and training in emergency management situations. It is a permanent full time position working a standard Monday- Friday in the Rockhampton Business Centre.
The role will best suit a qualified Paramedic with proven and demonstrated experience in emergency response coordination, first aid management, drug and alcohol testing and on-site training. This role will be part of the Safety function, who duties will be to coordinate workplace health and safety activities to meet and exceed compliance with Company standards and legislation.
The key responsibilities of this role will include but not be limited to:
  • Provide Paramedic and advanced first aid capability for the Region
  • Coordinate the provision of advanced casualty first aid management /training and other emergency response training such as firefighting, evacuation and hazardous chemical management etc
  • Coordinate Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with site policy and procedure.
  • Assist with the formulation and delivery of health and wellbeing promotions to site staff
  • Undertake inspections on first aid equipment, firefighting and emergency equipment, work processes and workforce compliance with site procedures as directed
  • Maintain electronic records of all injury/illness assessments undertaken
  • Provide advice and assistance to facilitate a safe working environment
  • Assist as required with accident/incident investigation, reporting and corrective actions
  • Participate in Workplace Rehabilitation programs for injured workers
  • Active participation in all reviews of Emergency Management Plans in accordance with Legislative and site requirements
About You
You will bring the following skills and experience to the role:
  • Minimum of 5 years in an Emergency Services Officer, Paramedic or similar role
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of paramedic science practices, health and emergency response processes
  • Tertiary qualification in Paramedic Science is preferred
  • Current AHPRA registration is essential
  • Tertiary qualification in Nursing is desirable
  • Current Drug and Alcohol testing certification
  • Capacity to travel to HD site as required
  • Cert IV in Workplace Training & Assessment is desirable
  • Current Fire Safety Advisor qualification
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, planning and organisational skills
  • A strong attention to detail and a working knowledge of MS Office and experience using database information systems
