About the Role
Hastings Deering is currently recruiting for a Safety Development Trainer to be based in Brisbane. This is a Permanent - Monday to Friday role. We are looking for someone with impeccable work ethics who likes to learn, seize opportunities and take responsibility for achieving excellence whilst working as part of a great team. 

This position will be required to travel to other offices and Business Service Centres within the dealership network including: PNG, Queensland and Northern Territory locations. 
Reporting to the Manager of Capability the primary focus of this role is to partner with Capability, Operations and Safety to lead the development, support and implementation of continuous improvement health, safety environment capability and learning frameworks within the business.
The key responsibilities of this role will include but not be limited to:
  • Identify, lead and facilitate the development and implementation of the framework, and processes that build and sustain health, safety and environment (HSE) learning and capability within the business.
  • Assist the development, implementation and review of the work health and safety compliance which supports effective workplace health and safety practices.
  • Assist in the development and lead/deploy the implementation of the internal accredited and non-accredited safety training programs.
  • Lead the identification of HSE training compliance requirements that meet legal compliance requirements, management of HSE risk and promotion of a culture that supports a learning organisation.
  • Support and drive outcomes based off safety related incidents/accidents and investigations which have training related outcomes.
  • Manage all RTO and non-RTO compliance documentation to ensure educational best practices are being met.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with the safety and operations teams.
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain a suite of reportable safety training metrics
About You
You will bring the following skills and experience to the role:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Safety Advisor role, delivering HSE learning outcomes and objectives.
  • The successful applicant will be an HSE professional who is current and skilled with legislation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety, health and environmental legislation applicable to mining or heavy equipment industry.
  • Extensive experience influencing stakeholders at all levels to achieve desired outcomes in delegated timeframes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the analysis, design, and implementation of safety learning outcomes, processes and services across multiple functions and locations.
  • Tertiary qualification in WHS Environment or equivalent experience.
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment.
  • Lead auditor in WHS, Environment and Quality Management Systems
  • Well-developed computer skills, with proven experience in Microsoft Office, Learning Management Systems and extensive knowledge of HSE management systems.
