Are you a Functional Safety Engineer looking for your next challenging role? Do you want to work with world class autonomy engineers who have extensive experience automating mining equipment? In this role, your focus will be to help with Technical Risk Assessments and ensure that the systems are compliant / adequate from a safety framework perspective.
 
The role will involve the following:

  • Collaborate with Autonomy Engineering Manager and System Leads on development of functional safety framework for mobile autonomous systems
  • Lead risk assessment and FMEA processes with engineering and operations team to derive functional and safety-critical requirements in compliance with standards
  • Develop, document, and aid in the implementation of functional and technical safety requirements in all parts of the vehicle system design
  • Work with the validation team to ensure that testing and validation strategies are appropriately implemented to verify expected safety system behaviours and reliability
Desired qualifications and experience:
  • Bachelors or Masters in Engineering, Computer science, or a related discipline
  • 3+ years professional work experience in functional safety role, ideally in autonomous systems
  • Strong experience with embedded software development for safety critical systems
  • Experience with applicable coding standards
  • Familiarity / experience with functional safety and autonomous systems processes and standards IEC61508
  • Exposure to mining, in particular mobile mining equipment
The role is based in the Perth CBD. This is a contract opportunity with an initial duration of 12 months. For a strong performer, there is a strong possibility to extend or to become a permanent employee.
