Renewable energy focused data centre business is listing on the ASX this year and requires a Financial Controller. Sydney, CBD

  • One of the highest growth companies in Australia
  • Receive equity alignment
There are many reasons why data usage is on an exponential growth trajectory.  Computational capability, new sources of data, a rising focus of deriving value from data, cloud computing still being a fraction of the total computational storage capability, sophistication of various industries digitising old world industries.  Data centres plays to this theme, and this particular business could be one of the greenest global participants in this growing market.  All current and planned future energy that runs the data centres that this company owns is sourced from electricity that would have otherwise been lost.  Due to these reasons this company is on a similar trajectory and from its beginnings circa 3 years ago, this company is currently worth a market cap of circa $400m and based on an IPO on the ASX this year it is likely to be worth over $600m.   The company has a global operations but HQ is Sydney.
The team is growing rapidly, and what was previously an outsourced accounting function is being in-housed.  Reporting directly to the CFO a Financial Controller will be involved in the following key areas:
  • Assist the listing of the business and drive the asx reporting obligations post listing.
  • Drive the budgeting & Forecasting process.
  • Setting up of accounting systems and processes.
  • Assist the performance reporting of various new initiatives (eg new regions, new product offerings).
  • Hiring and managing your team over time.
What we require is a CA/CPA qualified Financial Controller who is looking for something entrepreneurial.  The candidate is likely to have had some exposure to renewable energy (likely have spent some time at an electricity generation/distribution or renewables development firm) or greenfield infrastructure (contractors) and will have been in an accounting function within an ASX listed company.
