Operations Manager - Northern Region

The role:
 
To develop a collaborative, high performance culture embedding continuous improvement, safety and quality initiatives; and to plan, organise and direct the operational activities of the Northern Branches in accordance with agreed business plans and budgets, with the aim of maximising overall performance, to ensure that the IMG Group of Companies achieve our strategic goals.
 
As a member of the senior management team, work to share the Strategic vision and direction provided by the Executive team – lead the journey in your region (East Tamaki, Glenbrook, Takanini, Whangerai).
 
Key Functions in the role:

  • Set overall direction for the team, establishing goals and objectives for direct reports and for the wider team
  • Ensure that staff performance is competently managed by using Just & Fair model guidelines, counselling, coaching and disciplining team members where necessary
  • Effectively manage Northern Branch expenditure in line with the budget
  • Provide input to budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Ensure that Branch Managers utilise labour and material resources to agreed budgets and delivery times
  • Participate fully in Operations Management team, taking a leading role in optimising operational activity across the wider business
  • Build long term strategic relationships with current and potential key customers
  • Drive IMG’s “Safety First” Culture – lead health and safety initiatives and activity in your Region
  • Identify and evaluate risk areas across the operational activities
  • Support the estimating process and provide high level support to scope jobs and cost out for quotes
 
 
 To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Solid work history with relevant industry experience
  • Proven track record managing multiple Branches/locations and complex staffing environments
  • Proven success managing key accounts, developing business opportunities, and increasing sales
  • Ability to build high performing teams – to inspire other team members to give their best effort and setting the direction for many initiatives
  • Project Management skills and understanding of methodologies
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to clearly express complex ideas
  • High level of financial literacy and experience managing large budgets
  • Analytical thinking – the ability to critically evaluate individual processes and projects and then summarise overall organisational priorities
  • Needless to say, Outstanding organisational and leadership skills – a people person!
