Project Objective & History:
The purpose of the role is to lead a program workstream within the Mainframe Modernisation Program and PMO, actively managing the workstream, governance mechanisms, stakeholder management to support the Program. The role has overall accountability for delivery of a critical program workstream against schedule within risk appetite and budget.
  
The Mainframe Modernisation has four critical components:
- Mainframe migration from an IBM managed service (dedicated) to IBM zCloud
- AS400 migration from an IBM managed service (dedicated) to IBM Cloud
- pSeries migration from on-premises to IBM Cloud
- Middlware migration from an IBM managed service (dedicated) to IBM Cloud
  
Experience Required:
- 15 years+ technology industry experience required with background in mainframe, cloud and application migration.
- Service Management (ITSM), ServiceNow and operational experience
- Experience in defining SLA’s, KPI’s and success criteria.
- Excellent knowledge/experience in IT delivery methodologies or project management including Agile.
- Strong project management capabilities including vendor management.
- Previous experience in leading teams.
- Financial industry background (banking/insurance) favoured.

Notes:
- Leadership and Governance
- line management of a team of technical SME’s and IT professionals; and
- providing guidance to, and chair meetings.
- Decision making
- provide input to, or make, critical decisions regarding Program direction, outcomes and value, milestones, schedule, costs, scope, progress, status, resourcing, risks and issues; and
- Reporting
- developing high quality reports and papers, for consumption by the program leadership team, in a timely manner, if required.
  
Stakeholder Management
- build and maintain engagement and effective relationships across key leaders and teams in both the Business and T&T; and
- represent the Program at multiple forums as required.
  
Financial Management
- understand Program baseline, budgets and forecasts, burn rate and input factors;
- in collaboration with Finance representatives, track financial actuals v budget, ensuring the Program is tracking to budget;
- report on financial position and explain variances to the program leadership team and steering committee; and
- work with the program leadership team to take corrective actions when required .
  
Release management
- manage and co-ordinate all environments, build candidates, defects, risks and issues for each release and migration;
- provide evidence-based assessments of readiness, based on various data sources (including but not limited to: JIRA, Confluence, Project Schedules, Defects and Test counts/reports; and
- ensure appropriately skilled and experienced leaders oversee the implementation run-sheets.
  
Communications management
- in conjunction with Stakeholders and Program Communications resources, develop and approve program communications;
- ensure consistency and alignment of messaging across all forums, reports and communications.
  
Risk and issue management
- in collaboration with Risk community representatives, maintain accurate registers of Strategic, Program and Stream risks and issues, ensuring controls in place where applicable; and
- report on risks and provide value add commentary as required.
  
Vendor management
- manage a number of key vendors and partners to deliver to program and commercial outcomes according to service levels.
