Qualified accountant required by a programme advisory team of one of the 'big 4' consultancies working with construction clients

Accountant – Construction / Engineering Projects – ‘Big 4’ Advisory (Manager Level)
£50K - £70K + bonus + benefits
Our client is a ‘Big 4’ management consultancy whose Major Programme Advisory team work with clients across Transport, Power and Utilities, Oil & Gas and Defence sectors, providing in depth advice on the strategic, commercial and financial issues around investment in infrastructure projects in the UK and internationally.
They have a unique opportunity for a qualified accountant with experience and a good understanding of the construction sector, specifically the financial management of construction projects and companies.  The current team is able to provide assessment and insight into the commercial performance of programmes for clients and this role will add the ability to provide the financial accounting advisory aspect to clients’ major infrastructure projects. As such, a good understanding of reporting of accounting for revenue and profits on large programmes is essential. 
As well as advice on the commercial aspect of projects and programmes, the role will also work with CFO’s in client organisations to help them understand where to identify poor financial management processes and where to identify causes and the steps required to improve operational performance.
The role does require significant post qualification experience, gained either in an accounting firm working with construction clients,  a construction company (main contractor consultancy), or client organisation (public or private sector). 
The candidate:
  • Ability to quickly assess new projects and data to be able to identify causative issues
  • Ability to set out a clear approach to tackling these issues in the most efficient manger
  • An analytical approach to problem solving
  • An ability to articulate effective solutions for clients to solve project issues, based on own knowledge and experience
  • Report writing – able to produce clear, concise and fact based reports
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the commercial and programme advisory teams
Being able to demonstrate experience in any of the following areas is highly beneficial:
  • Internal or external audit
  • Forensic accounting
  • Cash flow forecasting and management
  • An understanding of Project Management principles
  • An understanding of the operational processes of construction companies
  • An understanding of issues that can impact project performance
