EQ8 Recruit has been exclusively engaged by NYK Group Europe to help recruit a Vessel Operator for the RORO division.  Responsible for pure car carriers this role will reporting to the Senior Manager Operations and based at their London office.
In order to be shortlisted for this role, you have the following skills and experience, but not limited to: -

Solid operational experience gained within a RORO environment and ideally experience managing operations for pure car carriers’ (PCC).
  • Experienced managing vessel routes between Japan, Europe, the US, and middle East.
  • A background in port agency would be an advantage.
  • Possesses pro-active nature and ability to prioritise, and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, achieve set tasks and have a good awareness of cost control procedures
  • Have good communication skills with vessel operators, third party port agents and the vessels command.
  • Some weekend & after-hours communication will be required 
The role responsibilities will include, but not limited to: -
Commercial activities: -
  • Maintain up to date assigned ports tariff & contracts. Update internal database
  • Regularly monitor market activities of feeder operators & maintain relevant source information
  • Support in feeder rate fixing for spot movements
  • Support all commercial requirements & port information as required.
  • Monitor regulations, activities, closures & other activities in their port operational area 
Operational Activities (Vessel operations)
  • Ensure that vessels have a smooth & effective operation throughout each voyage within the area of responsibility
  • Set up vessels in various systems & update schedules as required
  • Ensure that Masters, agents, and other interested parties are informed of the proposed itinerary & cargo details in a timely manner
  • Provide support for document issues (certificates/bills of lading/etc.)
  • Coordinate, inform & monitor way cargoes & T/S cargoes
Operational Activities (Transhipment)
  • Maintain & update Transhipment database and any related files.
  • Analyse most suitable transhipment port in consideration of costs, transit time, customer commitments, stowage & space availability.
  • Up-dating feeder schedules in transhipment data base received from feeder operators
  • Distribute, collate final plans & discuss relevant stowage matters with Marine team
  • Advise estimated storage charges at transhipment port
Project activities
  • Support business unit in all Operational & cost related projects
