Our client is looking to appoint a Cost Accountant in the Finance Department, reporting to the Financial Manager.

JOB SUMMARY 
Our client is a leading and respected player in vessel construction and are looking to hire a Cost Accountant to fulfil the necessary requirements within the Department to meet the Company’s objectives by providing administrative and clerical support to ensure the efficient operation of the Department and Office.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
In order to be shortlisted for vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies, but not limited to:-
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree/Diploma in Cost and/or Management Accounting.
  • KEY COMPETENCIES
  • 5-year experience in a Manufacturing environment (as Cost/Management Accountant or similar role).
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, experience with SYSPRO advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of Bills of Material essential.
  • Advanced MS Excel Skills (i.e. Pivot Tables, ODBC reports, Formulas and Macros).
JOB DESCRIPTION

The role responsibilities will include, (but not limited to):-
  • Material variances:Report on monthly variances for handover boats, report on moulding shop material waste and variances, investigate major variances, develop SOP’s where required to prevent loss.
  • Options: Maintain and improve on option costing models, reconcile SYSPRO to option lists, report on variances where cost result in margin shrinkage.
  • Contract prices: Update SYSPRO with latest contract prices, review integrity of contract price list and feedback to procurement (expired prices, duplicate prices, and inconsistency with unit of measure), assist in solving accounts department system price queries, allocate new contract prices within costing categories.
  • Work in Progress: Monitor margins on sundry sales, control cost of sundry jobs (improve process), query cost and labour numbers posted to future jobs, ensure old jobs closed off when invoiced.
  • Labour, spares, warranty, new projects, budgets and ad hoc tasks.
