A Language Practitioner is sought by a leading communications company to be based in their office in Fourways, Gauteng.

The Language Practitioner reports to the Traffic Manager and is accountable for checking changes from client, proofreading, editing, language adaptation, spell checks, and quality control of all printed and digital jobs against client-supplied copy within the negotiated timelines
Our client is a reputable and market leading stakeholder communications company specialising in financial reporting offering design, writing, project management and logistical services. 

In order to be shortlisted for vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies, but not limited to:-
  • Education & Experience: Relevant BA/Honours degree in Linguistics
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience gained in a similar position as a language practitioner
  • Previous experience in a similar industry or in a corporate environment
  • Microsoft Windows: Advanced Level: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Advantageous: Experience in working with annual reports
  • Proof reading in a digital environment
  • Own reliable transport and able to travel and work after hours and on site at clients if required.
The role responsibilities will include, but not limited to:-
  • Customer focus: Provide recommendations regarding proper use of grammar and terminology and continuously keep Traffic Manager and Project Managers informed of progress during projects. 
  • Workflow process: Provide accurate language services on all client jobs and check typeset documents to ensure client-provided content has been included, spot bad line breaks, mistakes in grammar and spelling, and any inconsistencies (including design), ensure that quality editing, language adaptation, editing and any other services indicated in the language services information document, is performed.
  • Finance & Administration: Accurate daily recording of time with details worked on projects and create and maintain clients’ style guides.
  • Relationships:  Build constructive relationships within the team and across the business.
  • Company strategy: Implement any company initiatives and maintain and promote company culture.
