Meraki Talent are supporting with the appointment of a permanent Financial Modeller for a market leading renewable energy company based in Edinburgh paying an exceptional base salary with fantastic bonus & pension contributions.

Its project portfolio is extremely impressive with the ability to get involved with some of the most exciting renewable projects within the world. These projects range from joint ventures with a 25% stake to full 100% ownership, as well as the full project lifecycle from completed sites that are producing energy to new developments at the infancy stage.

The Role

The position of Financial Modeller is a newly created role due to further growth and expansion with the group across Europe. The role will sit within core finance however, it will support several functions right across the business including:
  • Investment Division (M&A)
  • Asset Management
  • Compliance
  • Operations
  • Shareholding Group

The office premises are based in Edinburgh city centre and easily accessible via public transport. The role will begin as remote working with all the necessary training and equipment provided to ensure a professional virtual on-boarding. Furthermore, this is also an employer that is happy to talk flexible and home working when the world opens back up after COVID19.

You will be involved in but not restricted to the following duties:
  • Reporting to and deputising for senior financial leadership team
  • Business partnering with senior departmental Heads within Investments, Operations, Asset Management, etc.
  • Build, develop and maintain financial models to assist with pre/post acquisitions, development/construction/operational phases, monitoring performance against original investment forecasts etc.
  • Ownership of the transference of accurate and meaningful data for existing assets into the models, including maintaining an up-to-date data book for each model
  • Assisting with modelling to ensure liquidity, compliance and lenders regulations are adhered to
  • Assisting with modelling to support project financing and re-financing
  • Supporting the Asset Managers in key decision making by running scenarios and variable updates on models to identify further value-add opportunities and to optimise financial performance
  • Supporting Asset Management team with models that can evaluate rate of return of future & existing projects
  • Supporting due diligence of acquisition targets by providing models that can accurately challenge assumptions of the investment appraisal team
  • Updating and documenting changes in functionality to any master version models
  • Supporting finance in providing accurate reporting of asset performance to finance providers and complying with regulatory requirements
  • Adhoc duties
To be considered for this opportunity, you must have the following experience:
  • Qualified Accountant, however CFA may also be considered
  • Strong financial modelling experience, ideally building and manipulating existing models
  • Renewable energy, energy, projects or infrastructure exposure would be a plus
  • Previous technical accounting experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • Exceptional stakeholder and communication skills
