Meraki Talent is currently looking to recruit a Senior Legal Counsel to join a leading insurance firm based in Zurich, Switzerland.

The successful applicant will be joining a team who is responsible for providing legal advice and supporting the M&A, Treasury, and Investment Management functions of the business. You will be joining a well-established team made up of highly qualified transactional lawyers, based in Zurich.

Your work will involve advising on cross-border acquisitions and dispositions, debt and equity financing transactions, and complex investments.

Duties and responsibilities of the Senior Legal Counsel – M&A  
  • You will be responsible for providing legal support for structuring, negotiating and documenting highly complex cross-border M&A transactions
  • Your work will include advising on stock deals, joint ventures, reinsurance transactions, and portfolio transfers
  • You will be required to identify and advise internal clients on management and mitigation of legal, regulatory and reputational risks
  • You will be acting as a strategic partner to internal clients by consulting on legal issues
  • You will also be responsible for advising on internal clients on implications of business initiatives and providing practical, goal-oriented solutions and efficiently briefing senior management
  • You must proactively identify legal issues which could have business-wide impact and then be responsible for providing pragmatic solutions
Background of the Senior Legal Counsel – M&A
  • Law degree and Swiss-law qualified
  • At least 6 years of professional experience
  • Postgraduate studies / foreign degree (eg, LL.M.) or similar work experience abroad (eg, associate in a foreign law firm).
  • Basic knowledge of business and accounting
  • Strong knowledge of legal aspects related to cross-border transactional work
  • Strong communication skills, particularly you must have the ability to outline complex matters in a simple, logical and conclusive manner,
  • You must be able to effectively communicate with senior management and outside experts
  • A strong multi-tasker with the ability to handle numerous and competing tasks
  • Fluency English, German is an advantage
