The Company is a multinational Chemical Distribution that provides their customers with a world-class service and advice on the use of its products.
 
As IT System Administrator you will remain very hands-on and will be expected to be a natural problem solver, comfortable with working under pressure. You must have a degree from a leading University and have strong A-levels to back this up. Personal or professional experience working with networks, infrastructure or IT security will be highly advantageous in this position. 

You will join a friendly and dynamic team where you will make an impact and quickly see the results of your work. In the role of IT System Administrator, you will work on a variety of diverse projects assisting the business to improve productivity and reliability of processes, primarily starting with supporting the businesses use of a Sage 1000 ERP system, as well as supporting day-to-day IT operations.
 
Travel to other company sites within the UK will be required in order to support ongoing and new business activities. You will need to have the confidence to work independently and interface with staff members across the business, both from the office and home where appropriate and assess their requirements whilst developing efficient solutions to their productivity improvement needs.
 
Good problem solving skills are essential as other parts of the business will look to you for solutions to both typical support issues and also larger business process problems.

Requirements:
  • A good Computer Science, IT or technically related degree
  • An understanding of SQL and database architectures
  • Familiarity with Windows server platforms and windows desktop
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills 
  • Good communication skills
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel + Access) skills
IT System Administrator Responsibilities:
  • Provide user support to maintain business efficiency
  • Look after the windows environment
  • Mobile Management (administering remote assets)
  • Monitoring Exchange Server resources + server health
  • Take part in technical discussion and crisis call experience
  • Provide suggestions for process & procedure improvement 
  • User Training
  • Developing Knowledge Base database 
  • Plan and schedule for change management
  • Virtual machine provisioning & administration
  • Anti-virus, web and e-mail security administration
  • Understanding of capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning
  • Performance Threshold management
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills in both server and client OS related issues
  • Report building and administration in SQL
  • System administration
  • Performing logical fault finding
  • Management of assets register
