If you are a Senior Finance professional working in the Fund/Trust service sector in Jersey, this role could be right up your street.
  
Some key responsibilities are:
  
Client accounting
  • To ensure that client accounts are produced on a timely and accurate basis (and within any relevant legal or regulatory requirements);
  • To identify and implement ways to make the client accounts’ preparation process more efficient, reliable, and valuable to clients. This may be using technology or by changing people, policies, processes or procedures;
  • To provide leadership and guidance to all bookkeepers and accountants across the business ensuring that technical standards are developed and quality is assured;
  • To prepare and/or review accounts or other reporting for clients (typically where accounts are complex or technically demanding).
  
Management accounting
  • To produce management accounts, budgets, projections and other periodic reporting for the Senior Executive Group. All information to be timely, accurate and relevant;
  • To present and explain the results of the Group to the Directors and/or staff as required drawing attention to trends, risks, issues or opportunities (either in writing or face-to-face and using any aids as required);
  • To identify and implement ways to make management reporting more valuable to the Directors and the business. (Specifically and as examples only we can still improve the analysis of income, the P&L reporting by team/business area, the budgeting and projecting process, the mapping and analysis of cost lines);
  • To monitor and report on the cashflow of the business (and manage any actions agreed with the Directors)
  • Prepare ad hoc reports, statistics and analysis for Managing Director.
  • Financial accounting and taxation
  • To prepare the annual financial statements and working papers as soon as practicable after the end of the financial year (30 April);
  • To manage the relationship with the Auditors (currently BDO), provide information and explanations to them as required (including co-ordinating with other areas of the business e.g. Compliance and Company Secretarial), and ensure all reporting is completed in accordance with regulatory and other requirements;
  • To review and approve any documentation required by the Auditors (e.g. engagement and representation letters);
  • To prepare ad hoc reports, statistics and analysis for Managing Director;
  • To liaise with the Group’s appointed tax adviser regarding reporting and queries and check computations done by them. Ensure any issues are reported and resolved on a timely basis.
  
Other
  • To provide training across the business on accounting and/or other technical matters (including financial risk);
  • To act as a Sponsor or Manager to Group projects as agreed with the MD;
  • To oversee the firm’s billing and credit control function looking for opportunities to make it more efficient and accurate;
  • To liaise with the Compliance department regarding technical accounting issues raised by them and advise them of compliance issues spotted in accounts;
  • To contribute as a member or participant in the Group’s committees (as agreed with the MD).
  
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • An appropriate accounting qualification is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the financial services sector.
