Insurance Company has a need to a technical claims handler to manage complex liability and property cases

  Key Accountabilities
  • Manage an allocation of high value, complex, contentious and sensitive claims from notification to closure, within own authority and in line with the claims handling strategy, in order to obtain optimum settlement for company and customer, identifying where advice and referral is necessary
  • Plan, prioritise and manage individual work to deliver agreed objectives and meet SLAs to deliver pre agreed technical results and excellent claims customer service to customers, brokers and claimants
  • Develop close and interdependent relationships with customers and brokers becoming number one choice for claims through claims handling, regular review meetings and problem solving
  • Technical expert both internally and externally for customers, claims handlers, risk surveyors and underwriters
  • Provide structured coaching to members of the claims , underwriting, risk survey teams
  • Establish and maintain adequate claims reserves and provide technical advice to all levels of claims handlers within the team, customers and intermediaries to ensure departmental goals are maintained
  • Ensure personal and corporate Claims understanding of regulatory framework and compliance with regulatory standards for claims handling and related data protection requirements
  • Arrange and complete internal audits and contribute to external audits of suppliers, agreeing action plans for improvement and contributing towards the solution and monitor output
  • Identify complaints, act upon them and resolve in line with company policy and recommend relevant process improvements
  • Deputise for Claims Manager as required
  • Undertake project work as required
  • Actively expand personal technical and niche knowledge both informally and formally (GI Academy, III, CPD)
  • Reflect company values of fairness and ethical business practices.

  • Effective handling of complex claims, ensuring optimum settlement for company and customer within SLAs
  • Claims audit results within or exceed claims service levels
  • Claims leakage within or exceeds target
  • Feedback from internal & external stakeholders on coaching and training provided
  • Accuracy, timeliness and adequacy of claims reserves
  • Delivery against personal objectives and targets
  • Increased level of technical competency within the team
  • CPD requirements of relevant professional body
  • Effective management of service providers, Solicitors, Loss Adjusters, Investigators, Private Investigators etc.
  • Deputise for and support Ireland Claims Manager as required.
  • Attentive to team goals as well as personal goals and willingness to assist others achieve team goals
Knowledge skills and experience
  • ACII qualified is desirable 
  • Significant experience in senior claims technical roles
  • In depth insurance technical knowledge
